Let’s get to know Alex Holt & Free Worship.

Age : 24

Residence: Chesapeake, Virginia

Church Home: Saints Community Church of God In Christ

BAM: What age did you start to sing?

AH: 17

BAM: Tell me about the CD?

AH: The Album is called SING LOUD, I love the title because when I think of something that is loud it demands attention. We are pushing all of the attention to Jesus with this album and that will always be my desire. SING LOUD is a compilation of songs that God allowed me to pen through successes, failures, hurt, and a desire to grow closer to him. I wrote most of the songs on this album with the intentions of them to be sung by anyone. God blessed with a group of amazing singers and musicians that were able to help take each song to the next level with harmonies, riffs, and chords that really amazed me. This record is for any and everybody, if your a seasoned saint, a new christian, or even on the edge deciding if you want to give your whole life. It will touch your heart and make you want to give all you have to the one who created you, which will make you want to tell the world of his love by SINGing LOUD!

BAM: What’s your favorite song on the CD?

AH: My favorite song right now is track #10 its a song we did with Stellar Nominee Travis Greene called Yeah x3. It has a Beach Boys meets Earth, Wind, and Fire type of feel. It talks about everything the Lord is to us, and when you don’t have any words to describe your excitement we just say YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!

BAM: Tell me about the group?

AH: The group Free Worship are young people God connected me to who shared the same tenacity and fire for God. The singers consist of: Tamarra Wilkes, Wendy Levie, Lauren Green, Tierra Wilkes, Phillip “PJ” Green, Desmond Harrison, Zachary Brunson (Keys), A.J. Knight (Bass), Chris Jernigan (MD AND Drums/Percussion). I love these guys because they share my heart and vision for world wide ministry and our kingdom assignment which is touching youth and young adults lives to give everything they have to God now. No one in the group is over 25 years old and I know that God has us together for a reason, we are changing the world!!

BAM: How did you get started?

AH: Actually by accident! I was a freshman at Hampton University (  20 yrs old ) and God put on my heart to do a youth conference for the youth at my church. So I put together a youth praise team which consisted of friends, I had my first two songs written so with nervousness I presented it to them. It went over really well, over 500 young people came to my first real conference. They were touched by the songs that we ministered and from that point I knew this is what I wanted to do. I asked my friends if they wanted to join with me in this calling and the rest is history.
BAM: Who are you trying to reach?

AH: Youth and young adults to age 30. I believe that this generation will prepare the world for the second coming of Christ and it is our assignment to build this age group to have a relationship with Jesus Christ so that they can spread that love to the world.

BAM: With so many sounds and artists out there, what makes Alex Holt & Free Worship different?

AH: The thing that I know makes us really different is our unique sound and anointing, I really believe that it is the thing that changes the hearts. People will come to me after concerts and tell us when we were ministering, they would just cry because they felt the presence of God when we lifted our voice. Words like that I don’t take for granted because it’s by God’s grace that he has given us a uniqueness through a genuine relationship with him.

BAM: How can they purchase the album ?

AH: On Aug 23, 2011 the album will be available everywhere digitally and in Christian bookstores.

BAM: How can the world learn more about Alex Holt & Free Worship ?

Morning Glory Volunteer Appreciation Service

On July 24, 2011 I had the honor of being the Mistress of Ceremonies at the U.S.D.A Food and Outreach Volunteer Appreciation Service. The service was held at Morning Glory Baptist Church in Gloucester, Virginia under the leadership of Rev. Leonard Chapman Sr.

This was my first time in Gloucester so it was an adventure .It took my husband and I over 90 minutes  in travel time. When we arrived we were treated with love and kindness. ( Thank you Morning Glory )

Longtime volunteer, church member and community advocate, Althea McCray coordinated the service. What a sweet spirit Sis. Althea has. She is truly a giver.

The worship and praise was rendered by Sister Cora Harvey Armstrong and Family. These ladies was anointed and ushered us into the presence of God. They sang not because they were singers, they sang because God did something for them and you can tell by listening.

Over 25 volunteers were honored during this service.

From the Food Bank of the Virginia Peninsula to individual volunteers. At the close of the ceremony I left the congregation with this scripture.

Mathew 25:40-44

40 “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’ 41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ 44 “They also will answer,’Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

God Bless Morning Glory and what they are doing for the community in Gloucester, Virginia.

Gazelle Simmons is a fighter. Seems like all she experienced in life was rejection, heartache and pain until the birth of her daughters.

Listen as Nicole Cleveland interviews Gazelle Simmons, author of “That Which Does Not Kill Us Makes Us Stronger”

Early on Gazelle felt the sting of rejection by her own mother without cause. She grew up adoring her father until his rebuff towards her started.  She left a house of dysfunction and ran directly into a series of dysfunctional relationships.

If you’ve ever made a bad choice regarding a man and asked the question, “ Why do I keep going back?” you’ll want to hear Gazelle’s testimony.
