Breaking the Chains Empowerment Workshop

photo (52)

On Saturday, November 1, 2014 I had the pleasure of attending “Breaking the Chains” Empowerment Workshop hosted by Michelle Waters.

The speakers were Dawn Dunn, Pastor Kristi Whichard, Shirley T. Burke and workshop host, Michelle Walters.

The women in attendance laughed, cried and related with what was shared.  “Hope” was in the building at Stonehenge Golf &  Country Club on Saturday.

Take Aways:

“We must teach people how to WIN, BUILD and SEND… We must learn to put Christ first in all we do. Our instructions should be to win people (souls), build them up, and then send them out to do the same thing.”  ~ Dawn Dunn

Life is about seasons. … You need to make sure you have a solid structure for when the wind starts to blow…. Get control of your “self-talk” – You are what you say.”  “If You Say So” ~ Pastor Kristi Whichard

“It doesn’t matter what you don’t have; it’s what you’re willing to do. You must have a determined mindset to be successful….You must be willing to learn….to listen…to help… You must not give up. I’m not lucky…I sowed seeds.” ~ Michelle Walters

“The day you were born, God Smiled. When you love yourself, you don’t hurt people.  Give to others what you need yourself. You matter RIGHT NOW! ~ Shirley T. Burke

Throw Yo’ Hands Up Conference

On Saturday March 9th I had the opportunity to be one of the Showcase Spotlights at the “Throw Yo’ Hands Up Conference” hosted by Surrounded By Faith Ministries in Richmond, Virginia.

Surrounded By Faith Ministries, Inc., began as a Bible Study for women from all walks of life and from various churches in the home of Founder, Yvette L. Allen-Tatum.  Before the ministry was a Bible Study, it was an email ministry.

Today, there are fewer Bible Studies / ministry meetings because Surrounded By Faith is focusing more on EVANGELISM!

The Throw Yo’ Hands Up Conference is a forum designed to take individuals  from faith to implementation in business and ministry.

This year the conference was held at the Comfort Suites -VCC.

Men and women from all backgrounds came together to learn, fellowship and relate with one another about their dreams, current business and ministries.

The Keynote speaker was author, trainer and Pastor, Alton Jamison. He shared Godly wisdom on starting your business with a spirit of excellence, creating Godly partnerships and controlling the meal, the marketplace and the money. He took us to church!

Whatever the Lord has dropped in your spirit to do, “Just Get Started” rang throughout the entire conference.

The lovely Sharvette Mitchell of Mitchell Productions, LLC and the host of “The Sharvette Mitchell Radio Show” ( Blog Talk Radio , Tuesdays at 6pm ) was the Mistress of Ceremonies. She did an amazing job and sprinkled media and marketing tips throughout the day. She even gave us a lil something sweet and salty in her well known Chinese box treats.

Brenda Powell from Brenda Powell Unlimited and Exodus Designs shared information about the pros and cons of business during her showcase spotlight.

My segment was centered around  my personal testimony, being passionate about what you do in business and getting started with your dream. “Believe in Yourself” -Even if you’re the only one that believes in you.

Job well done to Yvette Tatum, her husband and Surrounded by Faith Ministries for being obedient and doing the will of God.

Aspiring Authors Writers Workshop

On December 28, Breathe Again Magazine hosted the Aspiring Writers Workshop in Richmond, Virginia.

Venus Mason Theus, author of Brown Paper Bag facilitated the workshop via Skype. Praise God for technology. We originally scheduled Venus to conduct the class in person, but due to sickness in her family, she was unable to make it from Detroit. As opposed to cancelling the event, we pressed on and made it work.

In the class the attendees were taught about authorpreneurship, marketing, self-publishing vs traditional publishing, non-fiction vs fiction, styles of writing, the importance of public speaking and so much more.

The attendees left the workshop empowered to start and /or complete their future bestseller.

Last night (12/28/2012) was priceless! I am so glad I was able to attend the Aspiring Writers Workshop. The information was second to none, in terms of the quality, timeliness and encouragement. We all left with the charge to “get that book written in 2013.”

Kryptonite Killed Superwoman

Author & founder of Breathe Again Magazine, Nicole Cleveland  chats with author and playwright, Rebekah L. Pierce about her new book release, Kryptonite Killed Superwoman during her recent book signing.

“In an effort to be the superwoman who has it all and can do it all, women are dying physically, spiritually, emotionally and financially by the minute. Kryptonite – the career, volunteer work, the family – the feminism of today – is killing superwoman. What are we going to do about it? What can we do about it?

Kryptonite Killed Superwoman is a collection of blogs, articles and essays/presentations that I have created over the past several years as I have journeyed through this treacherous valley called life. And my desire to have it all, to be it all, nearly killed me physically, financially, emotionally and spiritually. I am NOT superwoman! I am a real woman with real issues living an all too real life. Use the reflection activities after each blog or article to help you navigate through your own journey. They are intended to help you see and know that you are not in this alone. “

Women Leaders & Entrepreneurs Summit and Business Expo

Nicole with speaker Francine Humphrey and event hosts,Lilisa Williams and Angelavette Williams.

On Saturday, August 25, speaker, writer, women’s empowerment expert and Pastor, Francine Humphrey and I got in my vehicle to drive over 5 hours to Newark, New Jersey ( at 3am ) . Surviving off 2 hours of sleep I was determined to make it to the Women Leaders & Entrepreneurs Summit and Business Expo hosted by author Lilisa Williams and Angelavette Williams.

The theme for the event was Releasing Your Power, Aspiration & Innovation.

WBLS announcer Liz Black was the host (and boy was she a hoot). The women in the room came in anticipation for information and that’s exactly what they received.

Francine did an excellent job. She was funny, inspiring and on point. She reminded us to be a product of our business, don’t care what others think and be mindful of our brand. What you do, where you go and how you look is all tied to your brand. I am so proud of her and what she has set out to do in this chapter of her life.

The keynote speaker was the super charged and phenomenal, Dr. Gwendolyn Goldsby Grant, Multi-media Psychologist/Lecturer Speaker, Writer and author of The Best Kind of Loving.

She was so inspiring and full of wisdom. She was too, too funny. (did I say funny?)
“What you say becomes your day” she told us.She spoke to who we really are on the inside, not that junk we think, but the real stuff, We are so much greater than what we think. We are powerful. Dr. Grant left us with the 7 Ups.Think Up – Speak Up – Start Up – Step Up – Hold Up – Hang Up & Stand Up
Grab Dr. Grant’s book today.

Nicole & Keynote Speaker, Dr. Gwendolyn Goldsby Grant

All of the speakers were amazing.

Lois Greene, Vice President, Ambulatory Services with Newark Beth Israel Medical Center left us with the 3 C’s – Choice, Chances & Changes – In life it’s what we do with the choices we make, how we respond to the changes and we must make sure we take chances.

Nicole Upton, motivational speaker and real estate broker from The Potter’s House in Texas gave us valuable information about being a business owner and the importance of networking, talking to people and being friendly.

Pam Knight, mentor, business coach and client business / attraction expert spoke on gaining government contracts and told us two things we must stop – Stop networking with the same broke people and Stop chasing clients.

Mary Anne Kochut, consultant, life coach and speaker taught on self-empowerment. This woman is fierce. She is a two time cancer survivor and is adamant in helping women learn how to work with one another.

Ms. Boss herself, AKA Audrey Bell Kearney – Show Host, Author & entrepreneur was funny, down to earth and super informed. She shared simple marketing strategies to take our businesses to the next

Can’t wait until next year!

Ashamed No More Women’s Conference

“My, My, My…”

Those were a few words from one the attendees of the Ashamed No More Women’s Conference hosted by One Love Restoration Ministries.

For this conference to be the first says alot. The room was filled to capacity, the word was awesome, the women were blessed and I believe God was pleased.

An attendee even gave her live to Christ during the service. Praise God!

The testimonies from the speakers were amazing.

The goal of the conference was to let the world and the enemy know that
these speakers and women in attendence are “Ashamed No More”. What the enemy meant for bad God has used to mold our destinies.

To God Be The Glory for great things he has done and going to do concerning One Love Restoration Ministries.

Thank you Co-Pastor Annetta White for moving forward with the vision God gave you concerning this conference.

Job Well Done !

Morning Glory Volunteer Appreciation Service

On July 24, 2011 I had the honor of being the Mistress of Ceremonies at the U.S.D.A Food and Outreach Volunteer Appreciation Service. The service was held at Morning Glory Baptist Church in Gloucester, Virginia under the leadership of Rev. Leonard Chapman Sr.

This was my first time in Gloucester so it was an adventure .It took my husband and I over 90 minutes  in travel time. When we arrived we were treated with love and kindness. ( Thank you Morning Glory )

Longtime volunteer, church member and community advocate, Althea McCray coordinated the service. What a sweet spirit Sis. Althea has. She is truly a giver.

The worship and praise was rendered by Sister Cora Harvey Armstrong and Family. These ladies was anointed and ushered us into the presence of God. They sang not because they were singers, they sang because God did something for them and you can tell by listening.

Over 25 volunteers were honored during this service.

From the Food Bank of the Virginia Peninsula to individual volunteers. At the close of the ceremony I left the congregation with this scripture.

Mathew 25:40-44

40 “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’ 41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ 44 “They also will answer,’Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

God Bless Morning Glory and what they are doing for the community in Gloucester, Virginia.
