Faith For Finances

It’s been on me to write about obeying and trusting totally in God for a while now. Particularly, having faith for finances.

In the past I’ve said , “I have mustard seed faith.”  Faith to believe the impossible. Faith to believe that God will supply all of my needs, according to his riches in Glory.

Faith for my finances, for my health and for spiritual things.

I have faith…..It sounded good and everybody else was saying it. But did I really know?

God has a way of showing you what you think you know by real life experiences.

It’s easy to say you have faith to pay what you need to pay when you have a steady stream of income coming in; to know the direct deposit is going to be in the account every other Thursday. You may not have it all or even make enough, but you know a check is coming. You know you can put something on it. Make an arrangement  or set up a payment plan.

Today, I truly understand what’s it’s like to have faith. Not shout around a catchy slogan…

Gotta Have Faith

To have total faith for your finances is when you have no idea where the money is coming from, but you know, according to his word, that it’s coming.

This past week I began to weep because of God’s faithfulness. Not because I’m so great, but because of who he is and how he proves himself over and over again. There is no way on this earth I should be where I am today, according to man. My entire life is a testimony. My mother even gave a testimony of how she didn’t want us, as children and tried to set the bed on fire…But I’m still here.

I looked at the past 9 months I’ve been without a steady stream of income from an employer and people can’t seem to understand in the “natural” how my needs are being met. But I don’t live in the natural. I’m more spiritual than natural, so I live according to his spirit.

Just like God sent the ravens to feed Elijah, he will send what you need, when you need it. I’m a living witness. ( Story of Elijah at the Brook )

There were times I didn’t have gas money and someone showed up and placed money in my hands. Just like that!

There were times I had no idea how I would pay something, go to the mailbox and there was a check from a client. Just like that!

There were times people would text me and tell me to check my bank of account and there was a seed deposit. Just because…Just like that!

There were times I would speak and get blessed in cash instead of a check.  If I put the check in the bank, the fees from the account being overdrawn would eat it. No one knew, I didn’t tell anyone. (But God knew)  They blessed me in cash. Just like that!

God is no respecter of persons. I can tell you testimony after testimony how God has showed up for me and my family over the past 9 months. I expect favor, blessings and God’s Super to meet this Natural each and every day for my family.

I may not have everything I had before and may still be behind on some things but I’m not alone and it won’t be for long. He is doing just what he said he would do, for me and for you! Be encouraged.

He is a keeper if you allow him to keep you and a rewarder of them that diligently seek him and I seek him over and over again. I need him every hour, every minute, every day.

I write this not for those that have arrived but to encourage those (like me) that are still on their way.

Who Am I?

Have you asked yourself that question lately?

Who Am I?

Oh, I know what your title is, but who are you?

We are wives, mothers, praise team members, ushers, ministers, sisters, leaders, teachers etc….etc

We are everything to everybody but nothing to ourselves.

This must stop.

Take a few moments and ask yourself three questions.

  1. Who am I?
  2. Am I Happy?
  3. Do I still Dream?

( 1 ) Search the bible for what God says you are. What do the scriptures say about you?  Click here for a few examples of what the bible says about you. I believe when you know who and whose you are, it creates a new level of confidence in HIM. Meditate on what the word of God says you are and not what others say.

(2) If you’re happy, treasure your happiness. If you’re not happy, go find you a happy place. Create your own happiness.

(3)  If you still dream, don’t stop. If you’re not dreaming, start  today. It doesn’t cost you anything to dream.

Just Stand

What do you do in the midst of a storm?

You take cover, stand and wait.

If you keep on living, life will happen. At times it comes full speed at you like a rushing wind. If you are not prepared it will knock you down. I have to admit, I’ve been knocked down on a few occasions.

How about you?

Expect the winds to blow and the trees to bend. But don’t you move. Stand fast my friend. Stand steady. Be prepared by having the word of God rooted and grounded on the inside, so that whatever comes your way, you will  continue to STAND.

Stand through the tears

Stand through the hate

Stand through the misunderstanding

Stand through the shame

Just STAND !

Be encouraged and let’s stand together!

Unworthy of God’s Gifts and Calling

Have you ever been put in a situation and you felt unworthy?

Have you ever asked the question, “God, are you sure you’re calling me to this?”

“There are so many more “qualified” people  in that area, pick them.”

Individuals  that know more than you do, have a bigger name and ooze confidence.

When they talk, people listen. Where they go, people follow.

You might have tried to make a deal with God, telling him that you’ll be ready next year.

You may have  told him that you were unworthy of his gifts and callings. ( That doesn’t work )

God told Jeremiah,” Don’t be afraid of them, because I am with you, to deliver you,” Be not afraid of their faces: ( Jeremiah 1:8)

Jeremiah basically said, “I’m a child, who’s  going to listen to me? “

That’s exactly how we feel sometimes and we are full grown adults.

God does not always call the qualified. Most times he qualifies those he called.

If that’s you, please know that God’s got you. You do not have to feel unworthy of God’s gifts and callings. As long as you keep him first and pull on him, he will not leave you. Take him with you on this journey called life. He will speak through you. He will open doors for you. What may have been a burden will become effortless when you trust and depend on him to order your steps. You can’t build the steps or purchase them. They have to be ordered by the Lord.

Don’t run from it. If he chose you, he chose you. There is nothing you can do about it.

In God’s eyes, you are worthy. In his eyes you are more than qualified because it’s not based on deeds, education, family  or the right social connections. It’s based on who he chooses. If that’s you, just accept it and live your best life in HIM.

Don’t be intimidated by the “eyeballs” watching you.

Don’t look at them or better yet, just close your eyes !

Quiet Time with God

In this life you will laugh one day and the very next ,you might cry. We live in a time the world would say is “uncertain”. In the midst of the chaos, how do you find quiet time with God?

Some people are in  a race from the time the alarm clock goes off in the morning until their head  hits the pillow at night. This is not a productive way to live. The hustle and bustle of life will wear you out. You need to reserve space in your life for God. Not just on Sundays, but every day. You don’t have to be in a cathedral for him to meet you. He’ll meet you wherever you are. That’s how much he loves us. If you get still, be quiet and speak to him, he will direct your path. Not shout, scream and cry but just fellowship with him. Be gentle – he is the lover of your soul. There is nothing like time you reserve just for him. It’s so sweet and intimate.

My quiet time with God is early in the morning before anyone gets up in the house. It’s so sweet. It’s my special time – just for him. I talk, I pray, I listen and I sing to my God.

Make sure you set an ongoing appointment on your schedule with God. You won’t be disappointed. You’ll be at peace.

There was a time in my life I was in constant hyper –mode. From early in the morning until 3-4 am in the morning. I would work a full time job, come home, cook, take care of my family and when they went to sleep I would work on my business until the wee hours of the morning. This was not good. It was taking a drastic toll on my mind and my body. I was surviving on 2-3 hrs of sleep each day and the Grace of God.

Finally, I realized, if I was to just slow down and allow the Lord to lead me, I would eliminate most of my time sucking activities that I created for myself.

I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth  thee by the way that thou shouldest go.  ( Isaiah 48:17b)

Next time you set your schedule, make sure to add Quiet Time with God to the agenda.

Inspiration for Women

What inspires you?

To live in this present world  you need some inspiration. Life has hit some of us so hard that it seems like we need a move of God to make it day by day. The wind has been knocked out of us and we are in the midst of our storm. The smallest of tasks seem beyond reach when we are hurting.  We are ashamed at the state we are currently in, therefore, we suffer alone. I want you to know that you don’t have to suffer alone. You are not the first, and you won’t be the last. You may be saying , “My situation is different, I am a complete mess  and need a BREAKTHROUGH! ”

Inspiration for Women

In looking  for inspiration on the internet I searched for “ Inspiration for Women”  and found several resources that encouraged, motivated and inspired women from all walks of life.Stories of faith and stories of hope are just a click away.

Are you going through a rough time right now?

If so, you are not by yourself. We all go through our seasons. Sometimes it’s  summertime, the flowers are blooming and the grass is green and other times it seems like winter. It’s cold outside , the grass is dead and the crops have withered away. You continue to ask yourself, “How did I end up here?”

Hang in there. Help is just a click away. You’ll be surprised at all of the stories of faith and stories of hope you will find.  The internet is not all bad,  there are total strangers that want to encourage you. It’s amazing the support you will find if you humble yourself and allow others to help you. Speak up, tell someone that you’re hurting and trust God to bring you out. He did it ( and is doing ) for me.

Sometimes it’s the least likely, that will assist you in your breakthrough.

Be very careful how you entertain strangers, the word of God says that we may be entertaining angels unaware.  ( Hebrews 13:2 )

Take a few minutes and explore the stories on Breathe Again Magazine. Our featured, victorious testimonies will remind you that, we all go through and God is no respecter of persons. If he did it for these women, he will also do it for you.  HIS time is not our time.

I would love to know how you stay inspired?

What inspires you?

No New Year Resolutions for 2013

Happy New Year !

We are exactly one week into the year 2013. That means we have just fifty-one more weeks to go. Around this time is when everyone makes New Year Resolutions and declare what they are going to do in the new year.

No New Year Resolutions for 2013

I stopped making new year resolutions years ago, after realizing I never kept them and was setting myself up for failure. The defeat I would feel after failing to meet lofty, unrealistic new year goals would deflate me. So I stopped making them.

At the beginning of last year, my goal was to continue doing what I love and love what I do, which is helping people realize they are not alone by sharing  victorious  testimonies through Breathe Again Magazine & Breathe Again Radio Show . After working full time for the past 21 years I walked away from my corporate career to pursue my dreams in business and ministry. ( No, not my dream in Hollywood, although I do think I can sing )

Leaving a steady stream of income is something I’m still getting used to.Being a salaried employee, I was paid if I showed up or not. If I don’t show up as an entrepreneur, I don’t get paid. No paid vacation or paid sick days.

It’s not easy, and far more work than having a 9 to 5, but it is well worth it . To be home when my children get off  the bus is priceless.

My baby girl told me she never wants me to go back to work. :)

2012 was a year of CHANGE for me.

Over the past 6 months, I learned things about myself that even I ,was not aware of. A mixture of good, bad and some ugliness rose to the surface. A form of ugliness that was deeply buried since my childhood reappeared a few months ago, which caused many tears and flashbacks from a very dark place in my life. I will continue to deal with and heal this wounded area inside of me  in the  upcoming months.

What we don’t deal with will eventually deal with us.

Do you struggle with dealing with certain issues? Do you have a technique that you use to overcome your fear or hesitation? I’d love to hear from you.

Stay Blessed & Happy New Year

Merry Christmas

May you have everlasting joy this Christmas.

Please don’t stress out about Christmas gifts and not having enough to buy presents.

Make memories this Christmas that will last a lifetime. Appreciate those around you. Hug them, kiss them, laugh with them, take pictures and talk about Jesus being the reason for the season with your babies. Toys will get broke, lost and some won’t even be played with, but memories will last a lifetime.

Make memories this Christmas!

God Bless You,

Are you Encouraged?

Be Encouraged!!

There was a song I used to listen to several years back.

The words were… Be Encouraged – No Matter What’s Going On — He’ll Make it Alright by William Becton & Friends.

This past week we launched the 21 Day Encouragement Campaign. For 21 days you will hear from men and women of faith that have gone from victim to VICTORIOUS! They will share how they survived and what encouraged them to keep going. To sign up for the 21 day series click here.

The word of God tells us that “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging” (Psalms 46:1-3)

Do you believe that? We read the words in the bible, we jump, shout and get all “emotional” but do we really believe that GOD is an ever present help in the time of trouble.

If we were completely honest, most of us would say No. That doesn’t make you “unsaved” or a bad person. It makes you human. There is a story in the bible where a father brought his son to Jesus to be healed.

(Mark 9:17-24) The father said he believed, but he also asked Jesus “To help his unbelief”. We all have a measure of faith. You are no different and don’t beat yourself up if you don’t have SUPER Faith. You are still growing in his word. Stay rooted and grounded in the word of God and watch how your faith grows. What you thought was impossible will be a reality because of your faith in God and what he has already done for you. Will it happen overnight? I would have to say No, but it will happen.

You may be asking, “Well, how did you grow your faith, Nicole?” Please don’t think I have arrived on Super Faith Street. My faith is continually growing. He is still working on me.

Pastor Cliff Coward of Agape International Ministries Worldwide teaches that faith cometh by hearing and hearing and hearing and hearing.
You have got to hear the word as well as read the word.

Below are 3 ways I continue to grow my faith.

1. Listen to the word of God being taught (not just on Sundays)
2. Study the word of God for myself  (daily)
3. Building my Spiritual Resume – reviewing what God has already done for me.
If he did it then, surely he will do what I need him to do today.

Be Encouraged !

Stay Blessed,

God Will Do It Again

Going through a storm is tough.

Imagine being in the midst of a hurricane, totally uncovered with no where to go. No hat, no umbrella, no shelter. You are totally vulnerable. The hail, wind and rain seem to be coming at an outrageous speed and you can’t do anything but
stand in the midst of the storm and take it.

You may be facing what seems to be the worst seasons of your life right now. Just like the physical storm, you are vulnerable and seem unprotected. This issue seems to be getting the best of you and you’re unsure how and if it will ever end.

Do me a favor. Step back, pause and breathe. Get in a quiet place and look back over your life.

  • Remember when you thought you would not make it and was on the verge of giving up?
  • Remember how the Lord pulled you out of your previous situation?
  • Remember how he always made a way of escape for you?

God did it!

Those victories are part of your spiritual resume. The next time you get in a tough spot, pull out your spiritual resume. Don’t ever forget what he’s already done. If he did it then, surely he will do it again.

Be Encouraged!

Stay Blessed,
