Kim Gibson – Words of Inspiration – Day 17

What is the Encouragement Campaign?

It is 21 days of Hope, Inspiration & Solutions, just like the mission of our weekly radio show.

Many people don’t know where to turn in the midst of their storm. We tell them to read the Bible, and that’s what they need to do, but where do they go in the Bible? I can remember when I would go to the bible and it was just words. I didn’t know where to go nor what story or scriptures to read. It was just “Thou, Art ,begat, Mennonites,” and many other words I didn’t understand nor could pronounce. ~ Nicole Cleveland, Founder of Breathe Again Magazine

For 21 days you will hear from men and women of faith that have gone from victim to VICTORIOUS !
They will share how they survived and what encouraged them to keep going.

Scripture: Jeremiah 29:11 “I know the plans I have for you, plans of good, not evil, that you may have an expected [hope] end.”

I remember clearly the emotions I was feeling when I transitioned from one home to the next. It was a very depressing time. As a parent, you don’t ever want to see your kids suffer. It hurts you to the core of your being to know the hurt was at your hand. Mismanagement, poor decisions, financial irresponsibility put us (married then) in a position of not knowing where we were going to live. My baby wanted to go to the only place she knew, home.

After weeping and depression, my sister in law told me “I’ve been where you are. You are not a failure. God is not angry with you, He will see you through this.” Her words blessed me. I remember reading Romans 5 and the scripture that said “trial and tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope: and hope maketh not ashamed.” I understood everything was going to work out for my good, it was not my end and not where God wanted me to be.

I learned through adversity that “God will never leave me nor forsake me.” My daughter said, “mommy, when are we going to get our own house?” I said, “when God says it’s time.” Eventually, I was sitting in a leasing office, the consultant said, “I don’t see a problem; you just need somebody to give you a second chance.” I asked, “can anyone veto you?” She said “no.” I began to worship Him in her office. I told my daughter, God said it’s time!
